My goals with teaching private lessons are to provide my students with not only the tools to advance as bassoonists, but also all of the life-skills music provides, such as problem solving, team work, planning and time-management and many more. My biggest goal for your child is that when they leave my studio, they are better all around human beings that are better contributors to our society and better champions for music in all of its forms.
Mariah's students are very actively involved in and out of their school band programs. She has had students find success in:
East Central KMEA District Band
Kansas All-State Orchestra
Kansas All-State Band
The Youth Symphony of Kansas City
Olathe Youth Symphony
Kansas Sousa Band
Kansas Regional and State Solo and Ensemble Festival
Students will receive weekly lessons with Mariah as well as 1 new reed at the first lesson of each month.
In the summer, students will continue with weekly lessons. The schedule has room for 8 weeks of student/teacher holiday, and letting me know in advance will have no penalty and will not require a make-up to be scheduled.
There will also be opportunities for students to participate in solo and small ensemble performances throughout the year as well as studio recitals. Participation in Fountain City Bassoon Ensemble is also highly encouraged.
Complimentary consultations are available in-person or through video chat!
Think of our consultation as a meet-and-greet! Not only will you get to meet with Mariah, but you will receive personalized recommendations for lesson frequency, preparation strategy, and goal setting. We will also discuss our studio policies, tuition, and registration next steps.
